Jono's story.....
Hi I’m Jono and this is my story.
I have an awesome supportive family with my wife Dallas & two great kids Piper (13) and Leo (9). Dallas and I enjoy a good fancy dress party, as you can tell from our combined 40th.
Our Saturday winter sport schedule differs from the stereo typical kiwi Saturday morning. Dallas packs up Leo and heads off to rugby and I pack up Piper and head down to the netball courts.
I have been playing netball on and off for over 20 years. I started playing indoor netball in Upper Hutt back in the mid-nineties, more recently playing twilight netball over summer in Paraparaumu.
My umpiring journey started when my daughter Piper started playing netball for Paraparaumu Beach Primary School. Her team required an umpire each season, so I thought this is my opportunity to help her team. In 2015 I was asked if I would consider taking umpiring further and received some mentoring from Nancy Lewin and achieved my Centre badge.
In 2017 my goal is to achieve my full Zone certificate after achieving my Zone Theory certificate in 2016. I really enjoy umpiring for Netball Kapiti as I have met a diverse range of people and we have a wealth of knowledge across our umpiring team.
